I NEED YOUR HELP!

Ok, I need your help. Which cover for Cooper's photo book do you like better? I have to order it tomorrow to get 20% off so let's hear those opinions!

***Note: the gold stripe around the front cover will not be there. It is only showing which page I am editing. And any box that is empty will not show up on the final product.

No Pictures Tomorrow....

Ok, so you will not be getting pictures tomorrow... I have been working on Cooper's First Year album on Shutterfly ALL DAY and to be honest I'm tired of looking at pictures. I am going to spend the day looking at the real thing (Cooper). Pictures to resume on Monday I promise. (Barring any unforseen circumstances). So check back Monday!

Oh, and thank you for all the awesome comments :)

Pictures From the Past

Here is the third installment:

These first 4 are from his 6 month pictures. (Don't worry, I have the copyrights to them)

This is Cooper and my Uncle J. And I just got a call letting me know he arrived safely at home last night after a year in Iraq!

Rear vs. Forward

Since Cooper turned one, I get asked atleast daily when I am going to turn his car seat around and let him face forward.

Well the answer is I don't know! Well, when he is too tall to be rear-facing (I think on our car seat that's around 35 inches). I believe the longer he can stay rear-facing the safer he will be. Just because he has control of his neck and head doesn't mean he would in a crash at 55 mph. In my first year as a mom I've learned through trial and error that the AAP guidelines aren't always what is best for my child. I don't want this to be one of the errors.

So Mommys, what is your opinion of this? Did you turn your child(ren) around at his or her first birthday? Did you wait a little while? Or even turn them around before he or she turned one? Let's hear it!

Pictures From the Past

Here is my second installment of pictures from long, long ago. Enjoy!

(They are in chronological order by the way.)

10 ounces from one pumping!!!! (sorry I was very proud and had to share)

Pictures From the Past

Since I started blogging quite a while after Cooper was born and I have this new fast internet for sharing pictures, for the next few days I am going to back-track and show you pictures of Cooper from long long ago. Aren't you excited??

Here are the first few:

This is the first time he breastfed. Notice how drugged I look.

Some snuggle time with Daddy in the hospital

One of my favorite early pictures of him. This is in the hospital too.

This is one of the pictures we had made in the hospital. His eyes are starting to break out because of the eye ointment. He was allergic. :(

Blog MAKEOVER

Did you notice the makeover my blog got tonight? Isn't it great? Well it is courtesy of Supermom! She did an awesome job! Thank you Supermom!

Cooper's First Birthday Party

I frequently make fun of my Nana for the boxes and boxes of pictures she has. well, no more! I am now so thankful for her compulsive picture taking(which I think I inherited) These party pictures are courtesy of Nana. Thank you Nana!

I made this cake from scratch! It was quite yummy if I do say so myself!
I think he agrees!

He just couldn't wait!

Daddy let him eat the icing off Pooh and Tigger... and got him more when he licked it all off

This was definately his favorite present. We had to hide it so he would open other presents!

CONNECTED (wirelessly)

We live out in the sticks so DSL doesn't exist here. It really sucks. Dial-up is not my friend. It will not let me on my online classes so it had to go.

Today we got HughesNet!(look thats my first link!) I LOVE IT!! Finally I can share pictures from my camera(that i still have not found) instead of just from my phone. PLUS we got a wireless router! This means my laptop now has wireless internet!!! I never thought it was possible.

THANK YOU HUGHESNET!!!!

Balance

As you all know, I started college this week. My first day in class (Wednesday) went great. I think I am really going to like my instructors. The only downside is I have to disect a kitty cat in March and go to The Body Exhibit in Atlanta, GA. It is cadavers positioned in different was and opened up so you can see their muscles and such. I'm not all that excited about seeing dead people on display. I know some people give there bodies "to science", but do they really know what that means?? I find it distrubing, but that's just me.

Anyway, getting to my point. How do you balance a baby and college? I knew it would be hard when I had the baby. I knew it would be hard when I started college. But how do I find the balance? When he is crying for Mommy and I have a paper due, what do I do? He definately comes first in everything. But this is all for him; to make his life better; to be able to give him more. So how do you find the balance? Just a thought.

WE MADE IT!

It's just now hitting me. Cooper is a year old. That means... WE MADE IT! We breastfed for an entire year! My original goal was 6 months so I am ecstatic to make it to a year!

Yes, breastfeeding was not hard for us. Cooper nurses like a champ. He latched on quickly and hasn't wanted to stop since. But it was by no means easy! The lack of sleep was NOT EASY. Not being able to let someone else take a turn feeding him so I could sleep was NOT EASY. Taking him out in public knowing I would have to pull my shirt up in front of strangers was NOT EASY. Yes, the technical parts of it were easy for me but there is way more to it than that.

Having said that, breastfeeding has been (and will continue to be) the most rewarding experience of my life! I think we bonded much faster and stronger than we would have if he had been given a plastic nipple full of formula. Jerry was very supportive in spite of the fact that he would not get to share in the feeding for a while. Of course the benefits of breastfeeding are endless. it has been wonderful and I'm so so so glad I did it!

Cooper's First Birthday Party

You want to know how the party went right? Well it went great! You want to see pictures right? Well... You can't. I LOST MY CAMERA!!!

Saturday evening after the party I went to get my camera from my purse and it wasn't there. I looked through all the party stuff and still couldn't find it. We went back to the church where the party was and looked twice that night and still no where to be found. It still has not turned up. I am sick about the whole thing. When I wrangle some pictures from other family members I promise I will post some.

Birthday Invitation

Happenings in Our Household This Week

I officially started college this week! I have 2 online classes, Composition 1 & Psychology; a video course, ethics; and Anatomy and Physiology lecture & lab on campus. I think I am going to like online classes. They allow me to stay with Cooper while still going to school. My worst fear starting college was miss his toddler years and the online classes help alleviate that some. I don't have my first actual class until Wednesday, but I have oreintation for my video course in the morning...

Speaking of in the morning... Cooper's first birthday party is tomorrow! (Later that afternoon of course!) I have been prepping the food all day! I made my very first cake FROM SCRATCH! This cake will be Cooper's and I ordered a Pooh cake from Walmart. I'm just not artistic so I didn't attempt that. Maybe next year ;) I will post pictures of the party when I get a chance.

Happy Birthday Little Man!

Today is Cooper's first birthday. He turned 1 at 12:05 pm. It is kinda a bitter-sweet day for me. Yes, we are starting a new exciting chapter in his life, but my baby is now a toddler. (Of course he will always be my baby).

I tried to think of ways to mark this huge milestone on my blog. I decided to make a list of things I'm glad I did with Cooper and will be repeating with baby #2 and a list of things I wish I had done differently and will change next time around.

Things I Am Glad I Did:
*breastfeeding. This one is a biggie for me. Its the most important.
*co-sleeping(I will be making some adjustments on naps though)
*consignment sales!
*lots and lots of snuggle time despite "spoiling" him
*baby-wearing. I love my "kangaroo pouch"

Things I Will Do Differently:
*I'm doing some research on cloth-diapering. We will see about that.
*introduce solids later (more on that later)
*let baby sleep on his or her own some during the day so they will nap by his or herself
*not let my husband teach the word boob! LOL

Well that's all I can think of for now. We may discuss this more later though :)

This year has been the best, yet the most difficult, in my life. Cooper, you are the best thing that ever happened to Mommy! In the many years together ahead of us, I promise to always try to parent you lovingly and fairly. I love you baby boy and I hope you have had a great birthday!

Baby #2

No I am not pregnant! But recently I have decided I want to have another baby.

The last couple months of my pregnancy and the first few months after Cooper was born, I said he would be my only baby. I was happy with him and that was all I wanted. (Plus I was more than miserable). My husband on the other hand says he wants to have 11 boys (enough for a football team) and however many "cheerleaders" we have to have to get 11 boys. I hope he is joking, but I doubt it. We will NOT be having this many children! I'm not sure exactly how many I want but definitely not that many!

The past few weeks I have really been wanting to add on to our family. Jerry was ready to start TTC again 6 weeks after Cooper was born! NO!! I will be starting college this month to get my RN. If I get pregnant anytime soon I will go to school during the pregnancy, but as soon as the baby was born I would not go back. I want to be in a better place financially before we bring another life into this world. I want to atleast finish my RN and start working towards my IBCLC. So for now baby #2 will have to wait!
